Delayed response to next/prev commands.

(1/1)

poobaire:
It takes forever to get my Sansa e280 to respond sometimes when getting to the next song or previous song. It says the name of the song (sometimes) and just lingers there for up to a minute (maybe longer, I'm not that patient, though).

Side note, when I use the Sansa's GUI - it works fine, but I really like Rockbox. ::)

Strife89:
Do a clean install; that helped with my c250.

A clean install, by my definition, involves backing up your .rockbox directory as it is now, then deleting it from your DAP (or at least rename it to something else). Then, "install" the latest build (I used one from Feb. 15) as you normally would. This way, you have a fresh setup of Rockbox.

Boot into Rockbox at least once and reconfigure anything you need to (set up theme, backlight, etc.), and reinitialize your database. Then, manually copy any extra themes, etc. from your old .rockbox folder, or reinstall them the "normal" way.

It doesn't take that long, and you can always restore your old .rockbox folder if it doesn't work out right. :)

Not that you won't ever see that delay again, but it should be rare.

I have a Sansa E260 and I have the same problem. It sometimes doesn't tell me the name of the next song and many times I am unable to skip to the next track.

I did a clean install as you say I removed my old .rockbox folder put it on my desktop then I placed the new version on my player. I had to fix the config (backlight ect) and now I have this problem I wish I did not change it as all I wanted the update for was the better Video player.

I love this feature. Although I am now wishing I did not update it as it is terrible not being able to switch tracks. Not only that but sometimes it hangs and then locks up and I have to try and restart or wait for the idle to turn it off.

This is my first update the last rockbox install I did was the first time (before they updated the video player about 2-3 months ago) this is my first update. Is there any way I can get a build that old to possibly fix this problem? (I really doubt it but has the bootloader changed at all that could effect it? It boots perfectly)

Thanks for reading my post and i think this is a problem with this build for the Sansa E series possibly the C series also if you had this problem too before you did a clean install. Did you? I might have to just wait for a Fix that I really hope Happens.

Beatnik and poobaire-

Are you using the most recent build?  As I write this post, the most recent build is revision 16416.  If you are using an earlier revision, please update your build and then report back as to whether you are still experiencing these issues.

You can see what build you are using by selecting System --> Rockbox info.

grossaffe:
i'm having the same delay with my sansa e260.  my rockbox version is 16415, so i'll update to the newest one and report back with the results.

edit: updated rockbox and so far it seems to be working better.
