noob trying to compile in linux but cant find tools/configure??!!
« on: February 17, 2008, 04:12:21 AM »
Hey there,

I'm trying to compile rockbox for ipod 80g on ubuntu gutsy.

I was mistakenly following hshah's guide before I realized it was windows only. I'm now looking at this guide: http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/HowToCompile but cannot find tools/configure in the .rockbox file I downloaded from the daily builds page. ???

I guess I'm doing something really stupid  ;D (downloading the wrong thing/looking in the wrong place) but can't work it out.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

if the zip you downloaded contains a .rockbox dir its a compiled build. you need the source, labelled "Source Archive" on the current build download page.

Also, the source isn't provided as zip but as tarball. But I'd suggest you strongly to grab the sources directly from svn -- there is a wiki page about that too.

D'oh! :D

that would explain things... Got the source code from svn as bluebrother recommended, followed the instructions on various wikis and finally successfully patched and compiled and installed.

Thanks a lot guys!
