I use Windows XP and have no such USB issues. My printer and iPod plugs into any port and works, along with any other USB device I've plugged into it.

Sorry, in my experience, it seems that Linux has better USB support than Windows.

GodEater:
In your experience, on your hardware.

OK, for the sake of stopping a huge forum brawl, the following information is being provided;

  1. OFW#: 01.02.18A
  2. PROF: The USB stack in WinXP64 is VERY unstable. I rebooted in a Live Linux and the device is found and mounted ON ALL PORTS. in windows, it remains only seeing it off the one port, and all my other tech works on all the other ports....
  3. Rockbox installed fine in windows off the one port... and in Linux on ALL ports.

 Happy now?

That's hardly "PROF" of anything. Again, all that shows is that under your conditions, it turned out that way. Windows has its problems, and Linux has its problems, and they BOTH have a tendency to show a wide variety of strange USB behaviour. When something isn't quite "perfect", sometimes Windows will have better error handling, and sometimes Linux will, but it's usually the hardware that's actually at fault. It's just a case of which one can handle this specific problem with the hardware better.
