Updating Rockbox... Things to think about ?
« on: February 15, 2008, 09:00:31 AM »
Hi Rockboxed People,

i want to update my rockbox build on my iPod Video/80.

I want to keep my settings.

Is it enough to replace the the rockbox.ipod in the .rockbox directory, or do i have to overwrite the whole .rockbox directory with something like "replace older files"...

Thanks,

FaxX

Replace the whole directory, and this will still preserve your settings.

They are in a file that is created by rockbox and is not in the zip, therefore your settings will not be overwritten.

Recent builds have been having issues playing albums on multiple different platforms (it usually seems to skip over tracks 3 and 10 for some reason).  It's something you might want to think about before updating if you're not currently experiencing the issue.

Well, backups are a good idea anyway.

As a note, I don't experience this problem on any of my targets - gigabeat F60, iriver H140 or Sansa E260, and I update daily.

I moved the post regarding problems pausing while buffering.
It was not really a continuation of the original question.

The topic has been moved to Audio Playback and Playlists.
