iriver h140: digital out for surround?

would it be possible to play out surround sound
while using raw spdif output?

an option to not downmix ac3 files but transferring the data
to a ac3-encoder via optical out?

i found out that this works with dts-wav's...  funny thing....
if you got an amp with a dts-decoder you just have to play
the dts encoded wave-file (if you hear it regularly, its just noise)
via optical out and hear surround sound
nice... this noise cannot damage any chip, right?
