rbutil - The Rockbox Utility needs you help !! (testing)
Jancen:
Yeep, now it works. BTW the bookmarkfunction works now properly on my h10.
Jancen:
Hello Domonkey,
sorry for my late reply.
--- Quote ---Were there any error messages when you generated your broken voice file ?
Which TTS did you use ?
--- End quote ---
No, the file is obviously to small.
--- Code: ---About the voice creation:
i just tried to generate a german voice file, and it works. I used Sapi5 and rbspeex on windows.
--- End code ---
I did the same. Maybe it's a Vista problem. I'll give it a try on my kid's PC.
The talk files menu generats an error message. "encoding of ... /_dirname.talk.wav failed". I asume this depends on using voicebox which works propely.

I'm using the latest version (m1.0.4 build 16357) on Vista with my Iriver H140 and I'm having a few problems with voice file generation.
When I try to generate the .talk files for my music it halts every time on one particular file and gives the message
Encoding of G:/Music/S/Sigur Rós/Ãgætis Byrjun/cover.bmp.talk.wav failed
(I don't actually want to generate talk files for my cover.bmps but currently I couldn't find an option to turn that off.)
I'm using the Rockbox Speex Encoder and the Sapi TTS Engine (with all the defaults for those)
If I use the old voiceBox.hta script I can generate the talk files fine.
If I try to generate an English voice file the procedure runs through fine and creates a new file on but the phrases voiced don't actually match the menu options highlighted -for example
Settings > manage settings voices "settings loaded"
Settings > Theme Settings is silent
Settings > Recording settings is silent
Settings > Sound Settings is silent
Settings > General Settings voices correctly
Settings > General Settings > Bookmarking voices "yes, recent only" etc.
Is it possible the utility is getting the wrong menu description for the device?
Domonoky:
to Jancen:
Please try again, there was a bug in the sapi script, which failed to correctly select the voice.
to Neff:
about the non-matching voicefile: there was a bug, so that the Target string in the rockbox-info.txt file (in the .rockbox dir on your player) was empty. If you install a new build, or enter the target name yourself into that file, the voice generation should work again.
About the talk generation:
i dont know why the encoding of this file failes, maybe you can disable the deleting of the wavfiles, and inspect it, or upload this wavfile somewhere..
Maybe i should also change the code, so that it continues even if the encoding of some files fail.. :-)
perhaps i also should add an option to specify file extensions to ignore... (or the otherwayround ? )
greets, and thanks for testing.

I downloaded the latest daily bild and installed. The rockbox-info.txt file now reads

However the results of the voice file generation is, if anything, worse. The only voiced option I've found so far is Settings > Theme Settings which is voiced as "Save file type".
I disabled the remove .wav file option to get at the problem .wav file but oddly after the halt the file was not there (G:/Music/S/Sigur Rós/Ãgætis Byrjun/cover.bmp.talk.wav). I'm wondering if the accents have anything to do with it?
One other thing I did discover is that If I have "overwrite talk files" enabled it fails immediately with the message
Encoding of G:/Music/_dirname.talk.wav failed
And that .wav file does exist but plays fine in Windows Media Player 11 and Winamp 5.52
