Alienware CE-IV support
« on: February 09, 2008, 10:06:31 AM »

Is the firmware for the Alienware CE-IV equivalent to that of one of the other Rockbox-supported MP3 players?

Thanks!

Eh?

If you are asking if the Alienware CE-IV is supported, then no it isn't.

Thanks.  I'm aware that it's not one of the listed, supported models.  However, I thought I once heard that the firmware of this device is based another manufacturer's device but I don't know which one.

It must have one of the the worst interfaces in history and so I'm interested to see if I can improve it with Rockbox.

Rockbox only runs on the listed models.  If it is similar to one of those, it may make a port easier.

"Similar" meaning "has some of the same hardware" more than anything, though how the firmware is installed and possibly signed/encrypted is also important.

Yep, thanks for the clarification Llorean, that is indeed what I meant by similar.  My first post wasn't very clear.
