[SOLVED] can't load rockbox.ipod - 5.5g 30GB

Llorean:
Well, rolling back to earlier firmware may not roll back the flash version. Did it ask you to make sure your iPod was plugged in while a progress bar crossed the screen?

fidelius:
Yes, after uploading the firmware, I unmounted my ipod and removed the usb cable. It then asked me to reattach the usb cable and only after I did that I got a scrollbar that I guess meant that the firmware was downgraded.

fidelius:
@staen
From this irc log I can see that somehow you managed to get it working: http://www.rockbox.org/irc/log-20080515

I don't really understand how you did it, did you recompile the rockbox bootloader or rockbox itself? And if you recompiled rockbox what bootloader are you using, the rockbox one or loader2?

From what I read I think that it is fixed in rockbox by now. I used todays current build but I still have the same problem. But I can see the bootloader hasn't been updated for some time, so I'm guessing that the problem is there. And I can't download loader2, since the ipodlinux website is down.  :-\

staen:
Yes, it should work with the current build. I am currently using loader2, but it also worked with the modified rockbox loader.

The problem was (as I recall it) that there was an additional FAT (or Partitiontable?) on the disk which confused rockbox.

I will look if I have the working bootloader and will send it to you.

fidelius:
I installed rockbox r18132 with loader2 from the ipodlinux project and it works!.

I'm seeing rockbox running in my ipod for the first time and I already love it! Now to get all my vorbis files in it.  :D

staen, if you find the tweaked rockbox bootloader, I would be glad if you send it to me, loader2 works, but I'd like the rockbox one anyway. Thanks for everything though, even if you don't find it.  :)
