That first file at least, has both replaygain values (track, album) in TXXX fields (which fb2k prefers) but only one value in an RVA2 frame (which is the standard in id3v2.4, and which I believe Rockbox prefers).

ddoonie:
How does this differ from how foobar writes the rva2 frame? does foobar write both values into the frame?  Basically what does that Play software need to do differently for rockbox to read this properly?

Lear:
Foobar doesn't write any RVA2 frame. It only supports the TXXX frames, so any issues with the RVA2 frame won't be seen by it.

Rockbox on the other hand sees both values, but in this case it should've ignored the RVA2 value, on the basis that it was unclear. This did happen in an earlier version, now it just sets the gain to 0 instead...

ddoonie:
so if foobar doesn't write to rva2 frames, then why does rockbox pick up the replay gain tags that foobar scans, and not what the play program scans?  If i open the files i scanned in play in foobar, it reads the replaygain fine, all info, track album peak etc...  So what is the difference between how these programs are writing the info?  Speaking to the developer of Play, he states that he is writing to v2.4 tags, but only writing one string in the rva2 frame.

Thanks for your help...

sucks that there are no replaygain programs for os x!!
