Can't see JPGs on Sansa e260

Installed Rockbox, music is fine.  But I can't see any photo (JPG) files.

I can see the jpg files in Windows Explorer on the Sansa when connected.  Within the PHOTOS high level directory, there is one directory with photos originally run through the Sansa Media converter; not surprised that they wouldn't work.  But  another directory contains regular JPG files.  The files really are there.

On the Sansa, from main menu, I choose files, then PHOTOS.  I can see the directories that contain the files, i.e., the directory names are listed.  But when I open the directory I get a blank screen (blank except for the info at the top, such as battery level and time).  This is both in the directory with Sansa-formatted pictures and in the directory with JPEGS.

I checked the viewers.config file and the relevant lines are:

jpg,viewers/jpeg,2
jpe,viewers/jpeg,2
jpeg,viewers/jpeg,2

The .rockbox/rocks/viewers directory contains jpeg.rock

I must be doing something wrong, but can't find anything in the manual or in a FAQ.  Any ideas?

What is the current value for :

Settings -> General Settings -> File View -> Show Files ?

Oh, that was it....thanks!  I didn't even know those options existed.

Now I just need to figure out why some of the jpegs show fine and others get an "unsupported -4" error.....

That may be because they are progressive.

Yes, the progressive jpeg issue must be it.  Thanks for the info!

OK, one more question:  I've been looking around in the forums for more info about progressive jpegs, and the big issue is this: given a collection of jpeg files, how can I ensure that none of them are progressive?  I couldn't find any advice on that point.

Of course, I could open each one in my favorite photo editor and save it, but that seems pretty painful.  (I have a lot of photos to deal with and they are from different sources.)  Has anyone come up with a batch method?

Sorry if this particular question has been answered before and I missed it...I did search, but no luck.

You might want to have a look at ImageMagick. Not sure it can solve your problem, but I suspect it might.

Another solution, since you use Windows, is IrfanView.  It allows batch file conversion.
