Settings -> General -> File View -> Show Files - All or Supported

That should make the files visible and playable. All you have to do is navigate to them and select them to start playing.

still didn't work...im putting the .gbc file into the games folder it still doesn't show

What is Show Files set to?  You can find this setting either from Settings > General Settings > File View or via the Quick Menu.  By the way, have you read the manual?

Which games folder?  If you are putting them in the .rockbox folder that is a bad idea as it just makes it harder to get to.  Make a folder called whatever you want in the root of your player.  This means (I'm going to assume you are using Windows) that if your iPod is H: make a folder such as H:\roms and put them there.
