Quickscreen?
« on: February 05, 2008, 12:18:28 PM »
Hey guys... have I missed something? What is quickscreen? What does it do and when is it going to be implemented?

I searched the forums for "quickscreen" and this thread popped up, if you want me to start a new one, please let me know.

I am aware that as of 11/03/08 there is an option to customise the quickscreen. But there is no proper documentation in the manual, it's not even mentioned at all. Is there any reason why this has not been done yet?
Is there any documentation on the wiki concerning this? All i have found is this part of the manual and this Wikipage.
Quote from: The Wiki
The three items on the quickscreen can now be chosen from almost any of the available settings.
This phrasing is not very helpful, I don't know which settings can and which cannot be assigned to the quicksreen. We need to include a list of settings which can be used in the quickscreen into the manual.

I am willing to do the contribution to the manual myself, if i get a) instructions on how to do it and b) the list containing the settings i just mentioned. (i know how to compile rockbox using the vmware environment, just so get a picture of my skill level. i don't know how to use latex neither am i very good at programming though)

There's a patch in the tracker with the changes to the manual already - it's just waiting for some love.

To change the options, navigate through the menu to the setting you want to add, then go to the context menu.  If it's possible to add this setting to the quickscreen there will be an option in the menu allowing you to do so.

Someone to read it over, propose any changes, and commit it.
