Sansa e250 display problem

(1/1)

mesaboog:
Hi folks,

Just got a new e250 and installed Rockbox and LOVE IT.  Nice work to all of  those involved.

Everything is running fine on my unit with just one exception, the display has gone green.  What was dark black is now a tint of green.  The color depth looks totally whacked.  Fonts look OK.

I uninstalled Rockbox and also rolled back the OF to an earlier version, but nothing helps.  Does anyone have any idea whether this is a fixable problem, or is the display is facked?

Thanks much for any assistance.

Chronon:
It's not a good sign that the problem persists in the OF.  Apparently, your LCD cannot properly deliver voltage to the green pixels and cause the liquid crystal to become opaque.  It sounds like a hardware problem to me.  Though I don't know where in the chain the problem lies.  Maybe the connection to the LCD is loose?

It does not appear like a software problem to me.

One question, though: When you say, "fonts look OK," do you mean that they properly display as the intended color?  Any color that doesn't require the green pixels to become dark should appear properly (e.g. white) -- is this the case?

mesaboog:
Yes, the white font look fine.  But everything that was black now looks green.  Very evident on the opening splash screen and anytime there is a black background.  Also, gradients in color look really weird.

I am not afraid to open her up and have a peak.  Is the LCD connection pnp or  soldered?

Chronon:
I don't know, but I would guess that it uses some kind of ZIF connector.  Good luck with finding something loose!
