Sansa E250r Transfers
« on: February 03, 2008, 10:23:27 AM »
1.) Rockbox latest build (yesterday) is loaded and functioning fine on the Sansa
2.) I pressed rewind/left and power at the same time to try to get back to Sansa firmware for transferring music, no effect
3.) I attached the Sansa to a USB cable while turned off, laptop doesn't see it either

I would appreciate any suggestions (other than "read the manual" which I have done) on what to try next.

TIA

How I get into the Sansa Rhapsody firmware is pressing the power button, the immediately pressing *and holding* the left (rewind) button (it's not clear from your description of the problem if you are pressing and holding the button). If that doesn't work for you, you'll have to wait until someone of more expertice responds.

Good Luck!

Yes, you need to hold the left button when it is booting.

I have unbricked twice and re-installed twice. Both times, Rockbox works great on the Sansa, but the Sansa won't revert to the original firmware by the method described herein so that I can load new music.  ???

Are you putting the OF.mi4 file in the SYSTEM folder?

What happens when you try to boot the OF?

After unbricking, the device opens using the original firmware with no problems and the laptop "sees" the device.

So, then, what's the problem?

Well, then reinstall it. And, I think you misunderstood my question. I meant "What happens when you try to boot the OF when rockbox is installed?"

I cannot boot the OF when Rockbox is installed on the device. And yes, pressing power and "back" at the same time has no effect at all. I have to unbrick it to go back to the OF. At that point, I have no Rockbox but I do have the OF working.

You don't press power and back at the same time. You press power and release, and immediately after releasing as power comes on, hold down "Left".

If nothing happens *at all* then you're doing it wrong. You should at least get an error message if something isn't working, so it sounds like you've simply misunderstood the directions.

Should I now attempt to reinstall Rockbox? Is there a button combination that I should try first to see if I can get Rockbox back?

No, you have to reinstall it. Then, you must hold REW while booting. You should get a screen with text. The OF will then boot, or you will get an error message.
