Some words about Sansa m250

(1/1)

maltose:
Hi Ladies and Gentlemen,

I'm so glad to join you! I just installed Rockbox on my Sansa c250 (of course v1, and it took me a couple of hours to down-grade the ridiculous original firmware, 1.01.05P, to the the one that supports MSC mode, 1.01.00A), it really rocks! I just watched some home-video on the 132X80 16bit color LCD of my c250!

But, after the exciting, I'm thinking about how to make the m250 perform better. I know it should be unnecessary to put a video function, if possible, to the 4-grey-scale display of m250. However, it might be useful if a special version of Rockbox could play simple games and view/edit/save text documents or phonebooks on the m250. Honestly, the LCD of m250 is at about the same size as that of the c250. Playing games on it should make some fun, and texts/messages can be read clearly on the screen.

Anyone has any ideas about it? It may not have to be a Rockbox, but might become realized by modifying the original firmware of the m250.

Just my two cents. Thank you for your reading.

Mal

As I'm sure you know, rockbox is a complete replacement, not a mod.  It is not possible to insert bits of rockbox into the OF.  Check the new ports forum, and m250 user sites.  Ports are done  by interested owners with the skills.

Bagder:
Recent Sansa m200 models are of the v2 architecture, very similar to the e200v2, c200v2 and the clip. See this thread.

Earlier ones are Telechips TCC 770 based, see the m200 wiki page.

You are right. I do know the situation, and I didn't find anything much valuable toward this issue on the m250 user site sponsored by Sandisk (or may be someone else). Anyway, thank you.

Wow, this sounds de-frustrating! I read your posts about building-up something for the v2 architechture, and wish you guys make it. Thank you so much for telling me the "SansaM200Port". I am studying it now and hopefully I could figure out my m250 is v2 or not.
