Rockbox won't play single tracks

(1/4) > >>

humberga:
I have a sansa e260 and when i try to play a single track on rockbox (ie: if i have one song from Jimi Hendrix, I cant play it.) However, if more than one song is set to play (ie: an entire album by metallica) it will play that just fine. The problem shouldnt be DRM because none of the songs are from any of those sources. Also, all of the songs are in mp3 format.

MarcGuay:
Files-style or Databse-style?  Either way if you just "click" on a sound file it should play it immediately.  Maybe check the "Play selected file first" setting and make sure it's on...

humberga:
It does this on both file- and database-selection. Also, the "play selected file first" setting was turned on already. When it does this it starts to load the song then it says in a box that lasts for about .1 seconds "Searching... 1 found (PREV to abort)" and then another box comes up for about .1 seconds after that and says "searching...0 found ()" then it goes back to the selection screen.

GodEater:
What does it say when you attempt to start playback from the File tree then ?

Chronon:
I wonder if this is similar to the behavior described here.  I see this behavior with a device-disable build on my e280, but not with r16195 on my F40.  I have not yet been able to test this against current SVN.

When starting playback of an album the WPS will report the first track as track 2 -- maybe Rockbox is reading ID3 info from the wrong file?  If this is happening then I could see this leading to the behavior described here -- i.e. playback will only proceed if more than one file is in the directory.

edit:
humberga, what revision are you running?  I currently have r16179M-080127 on my e280.

edit2:
I found that while playback is happening Rockbox will properly begin playback of a single file from a directory.  However, if I stop playback first and then attempt to load the single file then playback fails.  I am now pretty confident that this behavior stems from the same source as the problems described in the topic to which I referred in the first chapter.

edit3:
pixelma notified me of a relevant Flyspray task in the other thread.  Here's a link: FS#8520
