Ipod Photo 60 Gb not recognized & booting problems

<< < (2/3) > >>

GodEater:
You'll need to either boot into the original firmware, or into the emergency disk mode. There's a sticky thread in the iPod installation forum which details how to get into the emergency disk mode for all models of iPod which Rockbox runs on.

Thank you !
I didn't know about this disk recovery mode feature.
Now it is recognized on the usb bus, and I have access to both partitions.

Shall I reformat it ?

Or just install a new rockbox version ?

And how do I know if it's an ipod with 512-byte or 2048-byte sectors ?

It's model number is A1099.

Llorean:
Only video iPods can be 2048-byte sectors.

Chronon:
Since you can get into Disk Mode without difficulty I would try first doing a clean install.  Uninstall the Rockbox bootloader and then install the latest version.  Finally, unzip a current build to your player.  I suspect that the bootloader on your iPod may not be compatible with the build that you downloaded.  When was the last time that you updated before this previous attempt?

I can't remember when I installed the bootloader. I think it was in the first days of 2007 - or before.

Actually I re-installed the bootloader and rockbox : it seems to work fine.

I also tried to install the Rockbox Utility, but I obtain this :
--- Code: ---$ ./rbutilqt
./rbutilqt: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by ./rbutilqt)

--- End code ---
As I said, I'm using debian etch.
But I don't understand the conclusion of this thread.
