help! my 2g ipod nano 1st gen wont get past a certain screen.
Chronon:
Extract the rockbox.zip to the root of your player. Your player should contain a directory called ".rockbox" after the procedure. You should be able to open this directory even if the GUI doesn't show it to you (e.g. manually type in the address, or use the terminal to navigate there). If there's no such directory then the rockbox.zip wasn't extracted properly.
The correct location for rockbox.ipod is:
--- Code: ---/.rockbox/rockbox.ipod
--- End code ---

but im using the installer....
Chronon:
Well, apparently something didn't take since the bootloader is complaining of a missing rockbox.ipod. You can try using the installer to install the firmware again. Does the installer give any error messages when you do this?
azn.soulja:
no ive tried it many times it always says the same thing
Chronon:
What does it (Rockbox Utility) say? You have to provide information or you're not going to get much useful feedback.
