Bootloader help

(1/2) > >>

thetech:
Trying to get rockbox running on a kenwood HD20GA7.
I also have a gigabeat F.

Both players are very similiar in both hardware and software.

The .DAT bootloader that ships with both players is the same size.

I have only gone so far as trying the gigabeat rockbox bootloader on the kenwood. Of course it does not boot. I figure this is due to the bootloader path being in a different location than the gigabeat

How can I modify the gigabeat rockbox bootloader to boot the kenwood?

I'll sort out button differences, etc once I get it booting.

Thanks

Llorean:
Besides both having bootloaders that are the same size with a .dat extension, what do you know about the player? You can't just give it the file custom designed for a different player and have any reason to expect it to work.

thetech:
Both are s3c2440.
They use the same LCD and DAC.
Toshiba and Kenwood use same linux source.

I am fairly certain the gigabeat bootloader can be booted on the Kenwood if appropriate changes are made.

I have no experience porting or compiling rockbox. I can't imagine anyone else being interested in doing this as the kenwood player is rare.

Llorean:
If appropriate changes are made, the Rockbox bootloader can be booted on ANY player. But it requires some very specific knowledge about the low level bits of the player.

thetech:
Guess I'll do it the hard way.

Thanks
