One thing is for sure: I will definitly not give away my beloved h120

I can confirm too that the Gigabeat is louder than the H100. Add to that, that the Gigabeat F can go further up, beyond the 0db level, which H100 can't do.

As for which target I use: My H100s are my favorites. As BigBambi said, the H100 has far more hardware in it, add to that a better battery and an RTC for an alarm (mod), and you have a real "do-it-all-and-good" mp3 player, that is way better than some of today's DAPs.
Though I have to say that the slim factor of the Gigabeat F and it's beautiful screen, are quite good for quick rides and video viewing.

Llorean:
I will say that the H100 has a more noticeable hiss, with IEMs, than the Gigabeat, but with the Gigabeat I can hear the drive spinup in my headphones, which I hadn't noticed with my H100 (doesn't mean it's not there, just means I haven't noticed it yet, it's been a while since I've used it with headphones).

GodEater:
I brought my h140 into work specially just to do a comparison, and I think the Gigabeat F *just* edges it on sound quality. There's not much in it, and the iRiver has SO many other features that more than make up for it.

LAfant:
Well I am totally happy with the sound quality of my iRiver, and I'll therefore be looking forward to receiving the Gigabeat. I think then I'm set with DAPs since I have the h120 for recording, radio etc, the Gigabeat as a standard player for listening to music, watching videos and playing games and a Trakstor flash player for sports and to take with me when partying...

Again thanks for your effort, I'll get back at my friend and try to find out why his player sounded that bad.
