Cowon iAudio X5 and MP3 having 256 to 320 kbps with VBR

Hi,

I'm experiencing problems with the playback of MP3 files (above rates) coded with Lame.
digital noises apperar from time to time (about 20% of songs are affected).
Same songs play perfect using a player with VS1003 hardware-codec or annother player (the one of my son).

Ok, I'm using original firmware Version 2.1e.

So here comes the question:

will the rockbox OS fix this problem?

I can't say for sure, since most of my files are coded at lower rates than this and you are not experiencing it will all high-bitrate VBR files, but I have at least 20 or 30 MP3 files encoded at 256 or 320 VBR and have had no playback issues with any of them using Rockbox.

And of course, there's always the biggest reason to switch your X5 to Rockbox:  ID3 tag database!  I wanted to return my X5L for lack of this feature until I found Rockbox.
