4th Gen iPod constantly looses settings

(1/1)

mfraser:
I'm a new Rockbox user - got a 2nd hand iPod for Christmas - and am
experiencing a few problems with certain things. The main one is I can't seem
to get any changes I make to settings to stick - if I turn the iPod off and
then back on all my settings are reset. What is the correct way of saving
settings including a theme?

Not sure if this is linked to the first problem, but when I switch it back on
it starts playing a different song to the one I was listening to when I
turned it off.

linuxstb:
How are you turning your ipod off?  A clean power-off in Rockbox is performed by holding the PLAY/PAUSE button for about 2-3 seconds.  You should see a "Shutting down..." message appear.

mfraser:
Yes, that is what I see. When I turn it back on, everything is back to the default settings.

GodEater:
You're not flicking your hold switch to on while you're booting up are you ?

mfraser:
I don't think so, but it could've been that the switch was on hold when I plugged the charging cable in. I did do an update last week and whether that has cured it or possibly that I know how to use Rockbox a bit more now, but it seems to be ok at the moment.

One thing I still get occasionally is that even though I've just fully charged the iPod, when I turn it on next what I assume is the flat battery icon appears, resetting it allows it to work properly again.
