Settings get lost iRiver H340

(1/2) > >>

lmorse:
Hi All,

I have been Rockboxed for some time now, however just recently the iRiver seems to be losing my rockbox settings once I power down. It happens every time, and seems to alternate between either... 1) Forgetting what Theme I am using, or 2) Losing the sound settings (i.e. volume, shuffle, crossfade) and playlist info. This happens even when the battery is fully charged.

So every time I turn on, I either have to re-select the theme, or I have to reload my playlist and re-set the sound settings.

I have tried to manually edit the CFG files, and also save the cfg files from within the rockbox menus, but neither of these fix the issue.

Could it be a hard-ware problem (is there some kind of standby power battery that needs re-placing)?

Any help would be much appreciated,

Thanks

Lee

safetydan:
It could be filesystem corruption. Run a scandisk/chkdisk over your iRiver and see if that fixes it for you. Also, in future, make sure you're properly unmounting (i.e. Safely disconnecting) your iRiver when you disconnect it from the computer.

Please, search if there's a bug report on this, and if not, post one. This is not the first time I've seen these exact symptoms before, and assuming you're a new person experiencing them, they probably ought to have a report on them.

I also have encountered this problem (last month), updating to a dailiy build, and fully re-installing (not just overwriting the .rockbox folder) has solved this problem for me.

I had the same issue a few months ago, and I concur with the previous poster. I had been careless in updating to a new build and had missed something.

I carefully updated my build ensuring I replaced all the files. I also removed config.cfg and redid my settings. Not a problem since.
