Read the iPod FAQ in the wiki.

Whatever. Well, you can always burn it to a CD in iTunes and re-rip it (you will lose quality if you don't rip in AAC by going from one lossy codec to another).

You actually lose quality either way since you're taking a lossy format and compressing it again.

There's other ways of doing it, but we can't discuss those ways here. Try Google.

Here's the long and short of it:

1.  Non-DRM purchases from iTunes should play in Rockbox.  These are the 256kbps AAC files that are designated in the iTunes store as "iTunes plus" and cost $1.29 per song (at least in the U.S., I'm not familiar with the pricing structure in other countries).

2.  DRM-protected files from iTunes will not play in Rockbox.  These are the 128kbps AAC files that cost $.99 per song from iTunes.   While you may be able to find ways to remove the DRM from these files using Google or other sources, our posting guidelines prohibit discussion of that topic.
