Sansa e200 and usb and chargers?

Just a couple questions about the sansa e200 and usb and chargers...

I know it's been discussed before and I apologize for that.  But I've read the manual, read the FAQ, searched the forums and it's still not quite clear to me.  Sorry for the questions if it has been asked too many times before.

1) If I'm in the OF and I plug into the computer, everything works just as before.  Cool.

2) If I'm in RB, and I plug into the computer, does it starts charging?  Just no support for transferring files?

3) If I'm in RB, and I hold down select while I plug into the computer, does it start charging and allow me to play music?

4) If I'm in RB, and I plug into a home or car charger, what happens?

5) If I'm in RB, and I hold down select and plug into a home or car charger, does anything different happen?

Thanks a lot for any info you can provide.

You can plug it into the computer and hold select to listen to music while it charges in RB.  I believe this was going to be added to the manual.  I've tried it and it works.

But is that also true of the car or home charger?

Yes. My answers are true with the current build.

I decided to test mine again.  Plugged it in with the power level @ 53%, after 15 minutes of "charging" I unplugged it, rebooted, and now the power level is @ 47%.  The playback was stopped and the backlight was off while it was plugged in.  There seem to be two camps here... Possible difference in the hardware of various e200s?  Or the people who claim is does work have either a) patched their own build or b) not actually tested it?

Under Rockbox, my Sansa c200 does not want to charge through either my computer or a USB wall adapter.

It works for me with the current build, charging through the comp and an adapter.

As noted in the link you posted to the tracker, the charge circuit on the e200 is currently not enabled unless you've added FS#8363.  

The charger will apply some current (50ma) if the battery voltage is dangerously low (< 3 volts), but this should never happen as Rockbox will power down to protect the battery at 3.3V.

So what does that say about people who claim it works with the current build?  Is the Rhapsody model any different in this regard?

I don't think it resets the register after booting, so its possible some people have a bootloader that initializes the charger.  I'd be somewhat surprised though, it would be an odd thing for the bootloader to worry about since it only runs for a few seconds.

What about the c200s (specifically, the c250)?

I acquired the patch mentioned, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to apply it. Is it possible the patch will be "applied" to the current build anytime soon? Or can someone help me apply the thing?
