Right Margin
« on: January 21, 2008, 01:10:56 PM »
Hello.

I'm trying to set the right margin. Flicking through the documentation, it appears you can only use %m|x| to set the left margin. Basically, I have text on the left which is indented about 5px, and the text on the right isn't indented atall so it's unbalanced.

Can you indent text on the right? Or set the margin??

Thanks.

no right margin. once viewports are submitted there's no need for right margins anymore.

When I was last playing with a WPS, I noticed I could actually set a right margin.

say you want display the battery time (%bt) on the right with some margin; you can use the %ar and then the %bt you are going to display, and then give one or two spaces after that. This would be the line in your text file, just remove the double quotes ("):

"%ar%bt  "       <-- notices 2 blank spaces after bt; remove the quotes.

If that doesn't work, if you are putting text on the left side of the same row, try putting the code for the left side AFTER code for the right side... So something like this:

"%ar%bt  %m|x|etc..."

(remmeber to remove the quotes ("))

Remember, you can align to the left (%al) center (%ac) and right (%ar) all within the same line, and the order doesn't matter as long one doesn't overlap with the others.

Like was mentioned before I highly recommend the viewports patch at http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/8385.  If you're not setup to compile and patch your own build then you can try out a prebuilt viewports build at http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=14770.0.

Edit: thought I'd take this opportunity to preach a bit.  On that viewports build, unlike other builds in the unsupported section (except the disable devices build of course) you really would be helping to test out features to come.  By using it and giving feedback you'll be contributing to viewports getting committed.
