Sansa e260 (4gig) questions
« on: January 20, 2008, 10:49:06 AM »
Hey everyone. First things first, I'd like to thank all involved with rockbox. It's damn nice, and ever since installing it on my mp3 player, I've found myself using it even more.

I've installed the current build onto my Sansa e260 without any problems, and I've also installed a theme flawlessly.

I'm running Windows XP sp2, and I use Winamp as my main media player/Sansa device manager. I was wondering if I need to do anything to my Sansa before I can take off and put new music on. I want to do a complete wipe of all the music files on it and start fresh, with the fresh new rockbox :) I know that I had to put it into MSC mode to install rockbox and everything, and it comes up as a USB drive in Winamp. How do I get it back to "normal" mode so that Winamp can see it as a player and not a drive and do my music wipe/fresh start?

Change the setting back in the OF.  Rockbox does not yet have a USB mode for the E200, so you are using the Sansa one.

I'm going to guess OF means Original Firmware?

So, I switch back to the OF, do my music wipe/reload, shut down, and then switch back to rockbox (which it should do by default shouldn't it?) to get everything back to it's rockbox glory?

Yes.

You need to use the OF whenever you want to do usb stuff, as as I said, on the E200 rockbox does not yet have a USB mode.

Alright perfect, thanks a ton. So far everything seems to be going just the way you said it would :)
Just for clarification though, once it's done loading all my music onto the player, I have to switch it back into MSC mode for rockbox to work right?

To run rockbox you can leave it as you like.  To update rockbox you need to be able to unzip a new build to the drive - you may need to do this as MSC (I imagine you do), but I don't know if it is possible with MTP (I don't think so) - I've never used a player with MTP.
