Try chkdsk:

thanks,

but isnt it the same if i start that from the
gui? (right click on hd-drive-letter.. etc.)

and: aint there any (better?) alternative to chkdsk?
to be honest, i dont really trust microsoft (in general)
and especially its built-in "tools" ;)

h140 hd again - why does my drive always pause during data transfer?
« Reply #3 on: January 18, 2008, 07:13:10 AM »
hello,

when i connect the iriver h140 to the pc
theres no fluent data transfer because it makes
breaks every now and then. (for example after 20-30 seconds of use)
this behabiour is not new and i was always wondering - this has nothing to
do with rockbox, right? could it be a problem of the HD?
or is this "normal" for a FAT32 formatted drive?
ive got the feeling that those breaks appear more
and more...

Yes, pretty much.

There probably are third-party Windows filesystem integrity applications available, but I think I would trust chkdsk above them.  Not everything MS write is complete crap you know.

On linux you can do
Code: [Select]
su -c "fsck.vfat -at /dev/sda1"
where /dev/sda1 is your FAT partition.
