I've never known updating via reply to be considered the same as double posting.
If someone was subscribed to a thread and it was edited, not updated, with essential info (although I appreciate this isn't really the case here) how would one know it's been updated?????

That quip about unfriendly wasn't conjecture.
I hear that comment a lot when I'm raving about Rockbox, either in reference to the product or the forum moderation.  This is just an example of that.

I'm really happy with how Rockbox is working lately.

Modifying still produces the new tag on the forum, although I'm not sure about the notification.

I'm sorry about that, but there are specific reasons we moderate like we do, that have been covered before in various threads.  If you are interested please search.
