Just got a brand new 80 gig Ipod and I can see it on my computer but the icatcher doesn't want to see it so I can't boot the rockbox

And if your iPod happens to be an iPod Classic, then iPodpatcher won't see it since we don't support the Classic.

Not really - no-one is working on an iPod Classic port currently.
