4 Question's....
« on: January 16, 2008, 03:57:27 AM »
Hey, I installed rockbox the other day on my Gigabeat F40, It's great stuff blows the og firmware out of the water, Just one problem.......
The video's.....
1. The video seems to be falling behind the audio any way to fix this?
2. The video will not fit to the screen, It's really big and cause of that only the top left hand side shows, What do i do?
3. Is there anyway to play Game Boy games while listening to music as well?
4. Can i play any other games besides the games like "Pong" and game boy games?

I suggest reading the manual, most of your questions are answered there.

1 and 2)  You ned to convert the video to the screen size of the F40.  This is both why you cannot see it all, and it is too big to be decoded at full speed.  Read the PluginMpegplayer wiki page.

4)  Read the manual, it has full details of all the plugins including games and emulators included with rockbox.

3. Last I heard, most targets' CPUs aren't powerful enough to run Rockboy and play music at the same time. This may or may not be true for the Gigabeat, as it has the most powerful CPU of all the targets, but in any case the feature doesn't exist.

Just as a note: "most targets' CPUs aren't powerful enough" that requires that some are (otherwise it would be said that all targets currently aren't). Then if the Gigabeat is the most powerful, by logical extension, it must be among the group that are able to. :)

Actually, it IS the group that are able to currently. But the Gameboy game must be small enough to fit within the plugin buffer after the space taken up by the Gameboy emulator, so not all Gameboy games will work.

Is the handle "Spock" already taken? ;)

No, this is a forum.  The whole point is that others can read past problems and learn from them.

Did you read the wiki page I stated?  I'll make it even easier for you, read this:  http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/PluginMpegplayer#How_To_Encode_Files

I just wanted to add: That the main reason rockbox was created was for audio and they probably didn't even think that video would exist on rockbox today (7 years ago...i think)

Also the forums are not the ONLY place for information on rockbox. If you know how to search its easy to find the information you want in the wiki or manual.
1 and 2 can be answered on the wiki page that BigBambi linked you do
3 would probably be on the wiki page for PluginRockboy
4 would be answered in the manual

Access denied.

Press Ok to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press cancel to kill the program.

I click o.k. and nothing happens....

I also tried doing it through VLC but the Command Line would let me type that much, I'm using Vista, Typical.........

Huh? Do you know that you can type past the end of the line and it just wraps?

For VLC, try using the batch file.  It'll save you lots of typing.
