iPod Video 80 Gig Battery Replacement
« on: January 14, 2008, 07:53:43 AM »
Hi All, my niece has got a 2nd hand iPod VIdeo 80Gig but the battery needs replacing. I have iRivers so no experience of iPod hardware and I won't get a chance to see her and the player before attempting the fix.

I've done some searchjing round here and on The Internet, but am getting confused - some sites say that their batteries fit all Videos, others had different batteries for the 30 and 60/80.

All information, and any recomendations for suppliers from the UK, will be gratefully received.

Thansk.

PS. Of course I'm going to trry to persuade her to take Rockbox!

Try iFixIt. They ship international, offer tools for the job, and even how-to guides to crack that iPod case open!

Thanks, that's the site I was trying to remember!

Looking there and some of the other reputable looking sites it appears that the suppliers offering barreries that are compatible with all Videos are offering the thinner 30Gig ones, the 60/80 Gig models presumably have a deeper case (dual platter drives) so a deeper and higher capacity battery. It's obvious once you[ve worked it out...
