Playstation would not work on Rockbox for the following reasons.

-Not Enough Buttons
The PS1 has 14 Buttons! The iPod has only about 10-11?
-The iPod Could Not Handle it!
You wouldn't be able to play commercial games or they will run at about 20%

So it willl be useless to port it!

1) The iPod is not the only player.
2) The iPod is NOT the only player.

Many Playstation games don't require the use of all their buttons (witness the fact that many are playable on the PSP using Sony's official store downloads).

But, they'd run MUCH slower than 20% on the iPod. Much, much, much slower.

I think we're just talking about it because that's the player that was asked about in the original post...

Doesn't matter. Features for Rockbox are features for Rockbox, not features for a specific player.

Well, don't some plugins only compile for certain targets?

Very few, and that is usually becuase they haven't been adapted yet or the hardware does not allow it (e.g. colour screen required).

There ar none for ipod only (that I can see or remember):

Generally speaking, plugins will not be compiled for certain targets for one of these reasons:

1) The hardware doesn't allow it to run on the target.
2) The plugin is old, and from before that target, and nobody has updated yet.
3) The plugin does something completely unnecessary for that target (for example, tools to convert playlist formats from the original firmware).

In the case of a game plugin, it should never be iPod specific. There isn't really a circumstance where something could run on the iPod, but no other players.
