Sansa e260 not seeing fm presets
(1/1)
dwh:
New to Rockbox, & since I currently cannot search the forum, I apologize in advance if this topic has already been covered. Please point me in the right direction if it has.
Installed Rockbox, custom themes, & fonts without a problem.
However, my player can't seem to find the FM preset file I've loaded into it (Boston.fmr). The web site says "If you want your preset list to be loaded automatically on power on, then save the preset list inside "/.rockbox/fmpresets/". I did this, but when I select FM Radio on the player, I get the message "No settings found. Autoscan?"
I tried these different file locations:
.rockbox\Boston.fmr
.rockbox\fmpresets\Boston.fmr
fmpresets\Boston.fmr
The last location put fmpresets at the same level as my music folders, so I was able to manually select the file under the Rockbox Files menu, & then the tuner used the presets. But I can't figure out how to make the player see them on power up.
I checked the Rockbox manual & the Sansa FAQ on this site, but didn't see anything beyond where to put the file.
Is this a Sansa glitch, Rockbox bug, or user error?
MarcGuay:
Try adding this line:
fmr: /.rockbox/fmpresets/Boston.fmr
to your config.cfg file.

The radio doesn't automatically use your preset file, you still have to tell it to (you could also have more than one .fmr in the mentioned folder and manage it).
Unfortunally the radio chapter in the manual is in need of a big overhaul, so here's how you do: you can cancel the autoscan and from the normal radio screen you'll get then, call the "radio settings menu" - the manual says that it is "long select" on the e200. There you'll find "Load Preset List" as second item, choose it and it'll list all the preset files Rockbox can find in ".rockbox/fmpresets/". You should be able to select your Boston.fmr then, it'll be applied and remembered -- in fact it'll be stored in the config.cfg in the way MarcGuay said, so adding this line would work too but the other would give you an interface for it.

The key step I missed was the Long Select action to display the radio settings. From there the Load Preset List did the trick.
Thanks!
