Btw, if you don't want to use your player for playing music -- why don't you just get a portable hard drive? I bet there are quite a few people around searching for players ... ;-)

I've had my iRiver since it came out, that makes it pretty old. I decided to treat myself to an iPod classic, couldn't say no to 160GB!

I just think the resale value of my iRiver isn't that high, so it's probably going to be made to better use as a hard drive!

I think you will be surprised, they go for a lot on ebay owing to having more features than any other dap, especially where recording is concerned.  I think you could sell it, buy a much larger 2.5" external hard-drive and still have some extra money.
