Database Issues on 30 GB video
davidddawson:
Long time reader, first time poster, so i know you guys hate repeating yourselves and love to say check the FAQ/use the searh.. I did and couldnt find anything.
I have the most current rockbox build on my 30 gig ipod video, when i try and do the database feature for the "first time" (removing and reinstalling rockbox) It begins to complie a database, *wether i just go straight to database, or into initalize/update now in the general settings.
After it complies it promps me to reboot, i do *either holding down pause or holding menu/select till it reboots* And when loaded the database says its still not ready, but when it begins to complie 0 files are found and the database feature ends up never working.
Back in the summer, i dont remember what build i was using but i knew the feature did work. Any help guys?
PS. I started from scratch today and rather then updating ipod database with itunes/winamp/etc I just installed rockbox and manually inserted two folders, losless audio/my music. So all the music are in there own directorys.
Any help?

I have quite different problem. After I compiled my rockbox database from ipod apple database, suddenly my ipod database gone. I think my ipod apple database changed to my older database. Now my song only appeared in rockbox database, but I can't delete it because i didn't know where the songs is placed. I hadn't do anything because I don't want my ipod songs database become spoiled. I owned 30gb video and used evilG build.
Can anybody give solution?
GodEater:
the evilg build is not supported in the main forums - please ask in the thread dedicated to it in the "Unsupported builds" forum.

What format is your music in? Do you know what type of tags are used?
You could try navigating to your .rockbox folder and deleting all .tcd files, and then try rebuilding the database, and then report back here.
