Ipod 5g (30GB) - failure to play .ogg-file
« on: January 08, 2008, 05:16:30 PM »
Hello

I have an iPod video 30 GB which I installed Rockbox on today because I wanted to explore the possibility of playing ogg files with it. However when I select an ogg-file in the file menu it won't play. It displays the filename and time shows as 00:00. After 10 seconds or so it says "No file!". Is ogg files not supported on this model, or do I have to add it as an extra feature?

Other information:
It plays back mp3 just fine. The ogg files I try to play are ripped by grip in Ubuntu 7.10 and encoded with oggenc at 160 kbps. The ogg files does not appear in the database after updating it (mp3 files added at the same time does). I first installed Rockbox from Linux, then used iTunes to reset it and installed Rockbox again from Windows. I did it today (Jan 8th) with the latest version.

Any help is appreciated, please ask for more information if needed.

Grip has been known to attempt to attach ID3 tags to Ogg files, rather than the proper Vorbis Comments. I would suggest testing for this, as it could cause this sort of problem.

That's it! Grip was set to assign ID3-tags. Thanks a lot for your quick reply. :)
