Regaurding Sansa e250r
«

Hello everyone im brian and i want to say that i am new to the place so ill be a new face. Anyway i would like to know if my sansa e250r is compatiable with rockbox. I bought my sansa at best buy also and i think it is a true R series because afterall on the box, (Mind you it is not a referbrished one), It says Rhapsody and playsforsure on it. I heard somewhere when i was browsing the forums, Someone got rockbox to work on there sansa e250r. Is that correct? And if so how can I get this too work on mine. I dont think i would want to use linux to install rockbox on it. But if I have too, ill wait for a way to do this on windows.

Your first step would be to download the manual for the Sansa.

Ok. I got the manuel and i have looked through it. I am wondering why the e200rpatcher isnt detecting my sansa. I have also looked through the toturial here:
http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/SansaE200RInstallation
.
It says:
Windows installer
Download e200rpatcher.exe
Download e200-manufac-driver.zip and extract it somewhere on your computer
Attach your e200R to your computer in manufacturer mode (turn on the hold switch, hold select and plug in USB while continuing to hold select for about 10s)
When Windows asks for the driver, point it to the folder you extracted the driver zip file to
Run the e200patcher.exe file and follow the prompts. Your Sansa should have some text on the screen. If the last line says "(something) aborted" then head to the forums and look for threads relating to your problem.
If it says "Firmware Unlocked, Proceed to Step 2" then it was successful and you can continue.
e200r wont read e200rpatcher. what do i do?

How do i install the driver. Sorry for not being clear. When i plug in the sansa e250r into my usb it allows me too open it from both modes, but what i want to know is why is it when i plug in the sansa e250r into my usb it doesnt ask me for any drivers. I click on manage on my computer and when i click device manager it says under disk drives SanDisk Sansa E250 USB Device.

Are you plugging it in in manufacturing mode?

Yes sir I am. Attach your e200R to your computer in manufacturer mode (turn on the hold switch, hold select and plug in USB while continuing to hold select for about 10s). the computer already recongnizes the sansa. but when i Run the e200patcher.exe file and follow the prompts it just says Ensure your E200R is in manufacturing mode and run e200rpatcher again.

Yes, you have to go to device manager, uninstall the Windows driver for the Sansa in manufacturing mode and then install the one provided; would you like directions?

OK, first of all, if you see the Sansa in My Computer, it is not in manufacturing mode. But, if it is:
1. Plug your Sansa in manufacturing mode.
2. Right-click My Computer, select Properties, go to the Hardware tab, and enter Device Manager.
3. Under Universal Serial Bus controllers, right-click USB Mass Storage Device (or something similar), and then click Uninstall.
4. Disconnect and re-connect your Sansa. When prompted, install the drivers you downloaded.
It should work then.

One thing. It seems that my computer is too up to date because it automaticaly verifies the drivers so it completely bypasses the whole step 4 thing.

OK, then, instead of clicking uninstall in step 3, select Update driver and install it. Then, skip 4 and go straight to the bootloader patching.

You have to tell it to search in the folder you extracted the driver to.
