Synchronizing Toshiba Gigabeat MEGF40 with Vista/WM11

(1/1)

webtechy:
Hi all,

Hardware: Toshiba Gigabeat MEGF40
Rockbox Version: r16011-080107

I currently have to manually drag and drop MP3 files onto my Gigabeat. However, I would like to use Windows Media Player 11 on Vista to synchronize with this device. However, it doesn't seem to detect it when I plug it in (in Windows Media Player that is). I had this working before with Windows Media Player 10 I'm sure (was a while ago).

Nb I would prefer not to have to use Gigabeat Room as like to keep 3rd Party installed software to a minimum when something else _should_ do the job.

Any help much appreciated.

Regards,

Ben.

Rockbox devices simply show up as UMS storage devices. Getting other software to work properly if it won't sync to a UMS player is beyond the scope of this forum, since it's not actually a Rockbox issue, it's a "whatever software you're using" issue. UMS is a very standard format (there's an awful lot of players that show up as UMS/MSC devices, since it's the most compatible way to do it).

webtechy:
"Ok, thanks for that. I was simply wondering if users of this forum may have come across a solution to WMP11 sync issues. (Rockbox does indeed change the way my computer sees the device, as when I plug it in, it pops up in vista with a different set of options such as open folder, sync photos, etc., but still not able to sync music)." (as posted on other thread).

EDIT:  (Merge #1)
Might be an idea to update RockBox to support WM Synchronization (P4S/MTP I think) though as I'm sure many users use that.

EDIT: (Merge #2)
NB Perhaps this might be a way to allow users to sync their videos and have the resized / re-encoded on syncronization too?

EDIT: (Merge #3)
OK
