After installing Rockbox, PC does not recognize Sansa E280

(1/1)

Dear all,
I installed Rockbox on my Sansa E280. It is running fine, but I encounter a serious problem. There is no way any more that my PCs (Win XP and Win 2000) will recognize the new Sansa.
I'd like to uninstall Rockbox but the Sansapatcher does not work because the whole PC does not recognize the Sansa. It is simply not "visible" for the PCs after connecting.
I don't know if this is relevant, but for your information: The whole 8 GB storage is full because I have put so much music on the Sansa. So there is no space on the system free, not one byte. But I don't know how to delete files when I can't connect to a PC.

Maybe some more info on the behaviour of the Sansa:
When I start the system, Rockbox starts and behaves fine. When I then connect the Rockbox-running system to the PC, an Assistant starts on the PC trying to find a driver for Rockbox media player. But there is no such driver, so this does not work.

When I connect the Sansa in Off-Mode to an USB port, the Sansa starts, shows a Sandisk Logo, then some Info about rockbox bootloader, then again the Sandisk Logo and then the system is on with the original firmware (the Sansa Firmware) functioning. But no visibility on the PC, the PC does not recognize the Sansa. The USB mode is put to MSC but this does not help. No way to connect the Sansa to the PC.

Any idea what I could do to uninstall Rockbox? I just want the "old" Sansa system back...
Thanks in advance

Main menu -> Files -> Pick a file you want to delete -> Hold select and wait for the menu -> Delete file.

Hopefully the fact that the drive is full is the reason your computer can't recognize it.  The second way you tried (plugging it in from the off position and going into the Sansa firmware) is the good way to try this.  Does it say "Connected" on the e200 screen?  Are you using a USB port and not a hub?

Hi,
thanks for the info. I deleted all the music and yes, now the Windows System recognized the Sansa as before. I could uninstall the Rockbox and now everything is fine.
Thanks a lot. My daughter is quite happy!!!
:) :) :)
My very best wishes to you for the new year.
