iPod Mini 1st Gen: Shut-Down Problems

(1/1)

dmendels:
Hello,

I've installed Rockbox for my iPod Mini 1st Generation player, and have been enjoying using it.

However, I have been unable to shut the machine down successfully with Rockbox installed - pressing the play button for an extended period (which causes shutdown with Apple firmware) causes reboot rather than shutdown.

Also, when idle power-off occurs, it causes the player to go into an unresponsive state, with a back-lit Apple logo being displayed. The only way to leave this state seems to be to reboot the machine (using select + menu buttons). I have disabled idle power-off to avoid this.

Please let me know whether these problems can be addressed.

Thanks,

Dennis

OK, I've answered 1/2 of my problem by reviewing old posts (apologies for not having exhausted this option before posting).

According to http://forums.rockbox.org/index.php?topic=8902.0 it is normal for shutdown to lead to reboot when the player is plugged in.

I suspect that my other issue is related, but it would be nice to have some more insight into the observed behavior: i.e. why does idle power-off while in a plugged-in state cause the player to go into an unresponsive state?
