Installation / Removal > Sandisk - Installation/Removal
Fixed.
Rydian:
I'm on windows 2000.
C250, 2 gig model, V1.
1.00.04 is my official firmware version.
It is an american version.
For the model number, I see two stickers with info under the battery.
The first says "Sansa c200B0612072833", and the second says "BE0612MXF". Â Both stickers have bar codes.
So I download the rockbox utility. Â I see two major versions, a QT 1, and a normal 3. Â I try the normal 3 first, and it tells me it cannot detect my player. Â I Look through the list, and it only lists the e200, not the c200.
So I try the QT one. Â It looks more up to date, with more options, and although it cannot autodetect my player, I'm able to select it in the list and tell it it's mounted as F:/.
However, I cannot install rockbox.
When I try the quickstart complete installation, it gives me an HTTP error 1129270319. Â Twice. Â I am using a router.
So I try the other installation type (since I read something about the automated full install being wonky), and it tells me my bootloader is already up to date. Â I never tried installing rockbox before, though... it asks me if I really want to install it. Â I say yes. Â In the status window, it says it's starting, then it says "unsupported install method".
I have tried putting my player into MSC mode as well, and restarting the utility, with no change.
Oddly enough, the sansa official firmware updater fails to update the firmware, giving me an unspecified error, and theiur tech support was of no help, telling me to upgrade to XP and use windows media player 10/11...
Is something wrong with my player? D:

EDIT3: So I went into the options of the QT version and set it to use no proxy. Â And then it was able to download and install rockbox and the fonts correctly, and even a theme.
However, I tried to use it to uninstall rockbox (to try to start over), and it told me it did it successfully, but the files and .rockbox directory is still there...
However, I still cannot get the bootloader installed.
Sansapatcher.exe from the manual will not run, I get a generic error that it needs to close as soon as it starts.
AlexP:
You have a v1 so rockbox will run fine.
Win2k should be fine, I believe sansapatcher requires an NT like operating system. Still, why not just try? Worse possible case it just wont work, nothing will happen to your DAP.
Rydian:
Alright, thank you. ^^
EDIT: First post modified.
EDIT2: First post modified. Again.
AlexP:
It gets really quite confusing if you go back to edit an earlier post with new information after someone has replied.
I am now slightly confused as to what has and hasn't worked. Have you ever had the bootloader installed?
Have you run sansapatcher with administrator privileges? Is the error you get the standard windows this program has experienced an error and needs to close type thing? If so, is there any way you could try on an XP machine?
Rydian:
Ah, I took the parts out of my original post that don't apply anymore, in order to make reading it easier. Too bad I suck at formatting things correctly.
No, I have never gotten the bootloader installed, even though the QT utility has told me multiple times it's already installed. It is not installed.
I have tried it logged on to an administrator account, with no changes.
"sansapatcher.ex.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created."
... .ex.exe? I swear that's what it says. That's really odd.
Also, I do not have an XP machine, and ever bothered getting a copy of XP, as this thing only has a 475mhz processor. ^^;
