My 5g ipod is real screwed up
« on: January 03, 2008, 08:16:52 PM »
Okay, so I load rockbox and everything seemed to going fine. It found my ipod no problem. The install screen came up and it began to install. The bar went all the way to 100% but never actually finished. Then I noticed that the instal box said that it wasn't responding. Shortly after it closed itself. Then I heard a faint clicking noise which came from my ipod. About every 7 seconds the ipod will restart with that clicking noise only to show the apple screen. I have tried the menu/select thing but this only stops this process from occuring while I actually hold the buttons, once I let them go it begins restarting again. Please help!

Menu+Select to reboot.
Then press and hold Select+Play to force disk mode.  I would start by getting your iPod into disk mode, and letting it charge for a while.

That did make it stop restarting, but when I tried to intall rockbox again it did the same exact thing: the program quit responding at 100% and the ipod began restarting.
