scroll wheel lights up and sansa freezes
« on: January 03, 2008, 06:59:01 PM »
After rebooting my computer with the Sansa connected my player freezes up. The scroll wheel lights up, but I have to take the battery off and on to get the player to unfreeze. I've tried a few firmware versions and get the same problem. Anyone have a suggestion or fix for this? thanks

Use checkdisk or something similar to scan and fix problems your Sansa's disk might be having. If that fails, putting a blank file named "sansa.fmt" on the Sansa in recovery mode can force a format of the player and eliminate file system problems.

Thanks for the reply.. I'd like to run checkdisk or add that file, but the problem now is every time I connect the player  it freezes (black screen with scroll wheel lit up) and is not recognized by Windows. any suggestions for that?

You are probably in manufacturing mode. Use e200tool to get into recovery mode and restore the bootloader and firmware (and I recommend you have it format too).
