Well, being a wps artist, this can be very useful and make a lot of existing wps's look better, but I have a quick question: Will the themes that are hosted right now (ones without viewports useage) work when this is added to SVN?

Thanks and great work!

I'll be honest, I haven't played with it yet - but they should if I understand everything correctly.

I've adapted cabbie 2 for gigabeat for viewports (and also made some personal preference changes), and the viewports seem to work great.  It is on the wiki at http://www.rockbox.org/twiki/bin/view/Main/WpsGigabeatF#Cabbie_BB

Yes, the intention is that all themes that work with the current official Rockbox build will continue to work unmodified after viewports are committed - that's one of things it would be useful for people to test.

i.e. try one of the viewports themes, and see if you can spot changes in behaviour.

And I've just fixed my sims page so that you'll actually get a build that works now.

Previously I was sending out unmodified builds - I apologize for the inconvenience.

Will implementation of viewports allow you to use different fonts in the theme? And can you also set a specific area in which the text info scrolls and make it centered?

What do you mean by "set a specific area in which the text info scrolls and make it centered"?

You can just center a viewport, and have the text scroll inside it. Is that what you mean?

Attached is a quick sketch showing what I meant. And can you use more than one font using viewports?

And let me explain the sketch: the artist, album and artist is supposed to scroll within a set area and also be centered (unlike what's now in the WPS capabilities that allows it to be centered exactly on the screen)

EDIT: Actually attached the screenshot this time  ;)

Can't you already do that? Use the align center tag, and the scroll tag, within a viewport, and if it's longer than the viewport, it ought to scroll, right?

If viewports get into svn what happens to the align left tag?

I don't understand the question.  It will align left in the active viewport.

The way it is now you can use two fonts - the system default font and the user defined one.

Yessir.  Setting a viewport is like defining a new screen within the screen that the old tags can be used in.

Just two fonts, the default rockbox one (tiny) and the theme font? Or can you set up more fonts in the WPS screen?

Currently just those two - but the plan is to allow multiple user defined fonts eventually.
