No songs on c250
« on: December 30, 2007, 09:51:36 PM »
Hello all!

I just installed rockbox on my Sansa c250.  When I boot into the sansa OS I have a playlist of about 350 songs.  When I boot into the rockbox, I get nothing.  I have done the database scan, and it says that it finds 467 files (I assume the extra are the rockbox (and sansa for that matter) operating files), but then when I try to go to 'files' or 'playlists' there is nothing.

Any advice?

Thanks

Wrong forum...

Anyway, there won't be any playlists until you create them yourself.

For files to work, try turning on hidden files, I don't know why they'd be hidden though.

For the database, make sure you are using it correctly.  Try Turning off auto-update, and then hitting Initialize now.  Wait about 5 min before turning your player off after that.

Have you put your audio in the Music folder?  If so, I believe that the OF sets this folder to hidden every time you boot it.  Either set rockbox to view all files, or put yur audio in a different folder (the OF will still find it, but not hide it).

There's an option in Windows to show hidden files and folders. I have not used Windows in a while, so I don't exactly remember the option's location, but open a file browser and dig through the menus for something like "File and Folder Options." (I assume you're using Windows XP.)

Ubuntu, for me, just point- blank shows them.  ;D

I don't see how this is relevent - it is in rockbox that he can't see the hidden files.

And in ubuntu files and folders beginning with a full stop are hidden but they aren't in windows.  What is your point?

Nevermind, I misunderstood your post. :-[ There is no point.

So sue me.

OK all, thanks for the input.  What I had not done was transfer the songs to the sansa in MSC mode.  So after I did that, the songs were indeed found, and a database created.

Thanks for the help, and sorry for the original posting in the wrong thread.  Darn newbies..... ::) ;D
