i tried putting a video thats in mpeg1 format on my ipod nano and it says missing packet start code prefix. help

This problem should be gone with the current one, but we always require that you be up to date. That one's over a week old. It's strongly recommended that you read the forum guidelines sooner rather than later.

1) Please use all-ages appropriate language.

2) Updating the build just requires extracting the build, just like installing it. You don't need to do anything else, or reinstall the bootloader, or delete anything.

sorry for the inconvenience, I'm new to the forums and might have over looked the guidelines. the video works with the new version, however it is not to scale, like its not compressed. any advice?

The instructions in the wiki tell you that you have to re-encode the video for the screen size of your player. Did you do this?
