iPod Nano: Not going into USB disk mode on cable insertion
thattommyhall:
Hello, I have been using an old build for ages but recently decided to upgrade.
Everything looks great, but now when I insert the USB cable it does not reboot into disk mode. I think this used to happen if you held down "menu" as you inserted the cable, your documentation says the same.
Is this a bug or a change? If it is a change then kindly tell me to what and update the documentation.
Thanks for doing such a good job.

It's not a bug. Consider it a change that is still in progress. The frontpage has a notice under the project news, but it's a bit cryptic for most people especially in what it DOESN'T say. Solution: reboot into the apple firmware (if you're doing lots of transferring with a nano, you'd be way better off doing this anyway) or manually go into diskmode.
Have a search here in the forums if you want to know more--there are tons of threads about this.

Will this be made a user-selectable setting? Switching firmwares manually just to access the files on the disk is more annoying than having to hold menu to prevent disk mode from being triggered.

No, rockbox will have its own USB mode.
teitoku:
But currently, rockbox has neither?
