Never cease to amaze

(1/1)

P.Opus:
The Rockbox devs never cease to amaze me.

I have been using Rockbox for some time on my Sansa Rhapsody, and not only am I continually impressed at the full feature set you guys provide.  I am also amazed at how stable Rockbox actually is on my player.

The stuff you guys do is simply mind blowing, especially considering that all of the work is basically reversed engineered.

Add to that, just when I start getting used to Rockbox as it is, You guys throw in another little feature that just opens up the functionality of my player even more.

I am referring to a small little change in the current builds that occurred a couple of weeks ago.

I use winamp to autofill my Sansa Rhapsody, as it has a fill feature that will randomly fill my player with complete albums, not just individual tracks.  This feature is much better than using Media Player, in my opinion, because I can still "Shuffle" the content that is put on my player, but be confident that I have full albums available at any time.

Playback, until recently, has been another story.  In the past, I usually had to shuffle all my tracks, or manually choose an album from the database.

Along comes rockbox to completely change how I queue up music.  The "Random" album feature in the database is HUGE.  Simply go to database/albums and choose "Random" and an entire random album from my player is queued.

I love it.  The flexibility of this software continues to astound me, and my donation to this product has been the best money I have spent in years.

Keep up the good work guys.  You have no idea how much you are appreciated.

Mikerman:
In the non-database world, the random folder advance plugin has been around for (a year?) now.  Just run it to catalog your folders, and then use it anytime thereafter to select folders at random.  Super.  (The only extra step is having to run it every now and again, to add new folders to its list.)  And you can exclude folders with it as well.

afruff23:
How well does winamp work with that random album thing? Can it gather files from multiple disks? Would it take too long with a HDD-based player or can you tell it to shuffle certain albums and leave the rest alone?

Llorean:
Winamp questions and discussion really have nothing to do with Rockbox.
