Defeating the crypting in the iPod Nano 3rd Gen firmware
Soaa-:
You see, the problem is that the previous generations were much easier to crack. From what I've heard, the key to decrypt the firmware was easy to find, but now, it's embedded in unreadable chips.

Actually, the initial iPod work was really done by the iPodLinux project. But there's been conceptually similar work done on other players (figuring out signing and stuff).
But if someone holds the door for you at the supermarket, you don't expect them to open every door for you from then on, and you don't walk up to them and say "Gee, you're really good at holding open doors. The doors to the mall get used by a lot of people, why don't you stand there and open them?"
While it might seem to make sense to say "You guys did a great job on the players you liked, so you should do it on the players I like, because you're most suited" this is a common logical jump that, while many people make, doesn't really make sense when put in a more "real world" plane of reference.
The best way to make something happen is actually to take steps to start learning to do it yourself. If this means "Start from scratch learning to program", that may be the case. You could also research what the iPL project did to get running on the first iPods, or what is currently known about the firmware encryption, etc.
